Put these files on your computer

The files stay in the cloud. Your computer shows the folders and only downloads a file when you open it — nothing is copied onto your machine.

First, remove the old Nextcloud drive. Open File Explorer, right-click the old Nextcloud drive or network location, and choose Disconnect. If the Nextcloud desktop app is running, quit it and uninstall it — it copies every file onto your laptop, which is what we are moving away from.

Step 1 — get your drive password

This is separate from your website password, so your computer never has to ask you for a code. It is shown once. If you lose it, make another.

Step 2 — Windows: download and run the setup

        
It lists the drive letters that are actually free on your machine, you pick one, and it maps the drive.
           It also raises the Windows file-size limit, which otherwise blocks files over 50 MB.

Step 2 — Mac: no download needed

        
Finder → Go → Connect to Server → paste the address below → sign in with your
           username and the drive password from step 1. Tick “Remember this password” and it reconnects on its own.

        

      


      

        
Step 2 — iPhone and iPad

        
Apple's Files app can only connect to SMB servers directly, so it will not see this on its own.
           Install a WebDAV app — Documents by Readdle or OwlFiles — and add the
           address below. Your files then appear in the normal “Save to…” and “Browse” menus alongside iCloud.
